Nutrition Tracking
Nutrition Tracking
Training is only half the equation. PT Tracker gives you a full nutrition toolkit so you can fuel your workouts properly and stay on target whether you’re cutting, bulking, or maintaining.
Food search
Type the name of any food to search across multiple sources:
- Community foods — Foods logged by other PT Tracker users, verified and ranked by popularity.
- Restaurant menus — Pre-loaded menus from popular chains so you can log meals out without guessing.
- Open Food Facts — A massive open-source database covering packaged products worldwide.
Results are ranked with the best match first. When two foods score equally, community entries take priority because they’ve been validated by real users.
Barcode scanner
Tap the barcode icon to scan any packaged product. The app looks up the nutritional information instantly and lets you adjust the serving size before logging. Scanned foods are automatically saved to your personal food list for quick access next time.
Macro targets
PT Tracker sets separate macro targets for training days and rest days:
- Training days — Higher calories and carbohydrates to fuel performance and recovery.
- Rest days — Slightly lower calories, typically with reduced carbs while protein stays high.
Your targets are calculated from your profile (weight, height, activity level, goal) and can be adjusted manually at any time in Settings > Nutrition.
Calorie banking
Some days you eat less, some days you eat more. Calorie banking tracks your weekly total rather than obsessing over each individual day. If you’re 200 calories under on Tuesday, those calories roll into your remaining weekly budget. This gives you flexibility for social meals or hungrier days without blowing your targets.
Drink configurator
Ordering a coffee? The drink configurator lets you build your exact order:
- Choose the drink (latte, cappuccino, americano, etc.)
- Select the size (small, medium, large)
- Pick your milk (whole, semi-skimmed, oat, almond, etc.)
- Add extras (syrup, whipped cream, extra shot)
The macros update in real time as you customise. Tap Log to add it to your diary. No more guessing whether your morning flat white fits your macros.
Recipe library
The recipe library includes a curated catalogue plus your own saved and imported recipes. Catalogue recipes can be synced to your phone so they remain available offline. Recipes can include photos, servings, macros, ingredients, cooking method options, and step-by-step instructions.
Recipe import
You can import a recipe from a URL, pasted text, a screenshot, or multiple screenshots for longer recipes when you have added your own AI key. PT Tracker extracts the title, description, ingredients, servings, macros where available, and instructions so you can review the draft before saving it.
Imported recipes are saved under My Recipes. You can change the number of servings and update ingredient mappings later, then use those settings when cooking or logging a portion.
Ingredient mapping
Ingredient mapping lets you connect recipe ingredients to foods from your own database. This means a recipe can use your preferred chicken breast, sauce, rice, yoghurt, or supermarket product with the macro values you trust. When every ingredient is mapped, PT Tracker can calculate an aggregate one-portion diary entry from those mapped values; otherwise it falls back to the recipe’s stored macro estimate.
Cooking mode
Cooking mode turns a recipe into large step-by-step cards for the kitchen. Step one includes servings, method options, and ingredient measures, so changing the number of servings updates the ingredient quantities and matching instruction text in real time.
Where it makes sense, PT Tracker can offer interchangeable cooking methods such as oven or air fryer. It can also convert safe liquid measures from millilitres to grams so you can weigh ingredients on scales instead of using measuring spoons or jugs.
