App Crashes & Performance
App Crashes & Performance
If PT Tracker is crashing, freezing, or running slowly, work through the steps below. Most performance issues are resolved within a few minutes.
App crashes or won’t open
- Force close the app — Swipe PT Tracker away from your recent apps list, then reopen it.
- Restart your device — Power your phone off and back on.
- Update the app — Open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) and check for updates. We regularly ship fixes for crash bugs.
- Reinstall the app — Delete PT Tracker and reinstall it from your app store. Your data is synced to the cloud, so you won’t lose anything — just sign back in.
Slow performance
PT Tracker stores workout and nutrition data locally for offline access. Over time, this cache can grow and affect performance.
Clear the app cache
Android:
- Go to Settings > Apps > PT Tracker > Storage.
- Tap Clear Cache (not Clear Data).
- Reopen PT Tracker.
iOS:
- Offload the app: go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage > PT Tracker.
- Tap Offload App, then tap Reinstall App.
- This clears the cache whilst keeping your account data.
Other performance tips
- Close background apps — Other apps competing for memory can slow things down.
- Free up storage — If your device is nearly full, performance degrades across all apps. Aim for at least 500 MB of free space.
- Disable battery saver — Power-saving modes throttle app performance and can cause sync delays.
Screen goes blank or shows a white screen
This usually means the app failed to load properly. Force close and reopen. If it persists, clear your cache using the steps above, or reinstall.
Specific feature not working
If a particular screen or feature is broken but the rest of the app works fine, it may be a bug we need to investigate. Please report it via the contact page and include what you were doing when the issue occurred.
